Best time to visit Maldives?

The best time to visit the Maldives is between December and March, it is also the high season. You can also visit the Maldives boulder season to find better deals but we don’t recommend you going there offseason because it’s raining a lot. So you should avoid going there between June and September.

Where to stay in the Maldives?

Movenpick Kured Hivaru

First of all, you need to know that in the Maldives the islands are “hotel islands” this means that one island only for one hotel. So, if you choose a small/luxury hotel, there won’t be so many people on the island. You will easily find empty beaches.

We have stayed at the Movenpick Kuredhivaru for 3 nights and we loved our stay. This resort is located in the Noonu Atoll, in the Maldives. This island is 45 minutes far from the north of Male international airport by seaplane. You can only reach the island by seaplane because it is too far by boat. We took the company Trans Maldivian Airways to get to the resort, which is the best airline company in the Maldives. It was our first seaplane flight and it was seriously an amazing experience! Admiring the atolls and lagoons from above was magical, we will never forget this moment!

The resort and the overwater villas

Then, we arrived at the resort, we were welcomed by the adorable staff and we discovered a beautiful and preserved island in paradise. The island is absolutely stunning, as beautiful as in the photos! We were not disappointed. The beaches are really clean and beautiful.

Next, we were escorted by buggy and we discovered our incredibly beautiful overwater villa. The room was really pretty and spacious with a modern and minimalist decoration. There was a beautiful bathroom with a shower and a separate bath with a view on the lagoon. Also, there was an amazing terrace with a private pool. It was really romantic and perfect for couples or families. The resort is composed of72 overwater pool villas and 32 beach pool suites.

The restaurants

The resort has 3 different restaurants. The first one is the Bodumas, a 360-degree view of the Indian Ocean who proposes seafood. We are vegan so we chose the second one, which is the Latitude 5.5. This restaurant is perfect to have a cocktail/dinner and enjoy the sunset on the beach. It is also a beautiful place to have a romantic moment.

The last one is the ONU Marché, the main restaurant, where the breakfast buffet is served and international food for lunch and dinner. The breakfast was really good, there were delicious various fresh fruits, pancakes, french toasts, fresh juices and so on. Also, The Movenpick proposes a coffee and wine lounge. And at 4 pm you can enjoy a degustation of chocolate and candies on the beach. It is very fun to do!

Our feeling about Movenpick Kuredhivaru

To be honest, it was one of the most romantic experiences we have ever had. Not only because we were in the Maldives, but because this resort is perfect for a romantic trip or for a honeymoon.

First of all, there are not so many people and the island is big enough to feel alone. Also, everything is done to make you feel just the two of you. The staff is adorable. They are always trying to help you and to make sure you having an amazing stay.

Also, the overwater villas are absolutely gorgeous and enough spacious compared to the other resorts in the Maldives. In addition to that, you have the famous transparent floor in the entrance of your room, so you can admire fish from your villa! We have spent a lot of time in front of that transparent floor to see fishes swimming just below us. It was amazing.

We had a wonderful stay and we will never get bored of this place, there is always something to try, that’s what we loved.

What activities to do in the Maldives?

Diving and snorkeling

The island is surrounded by an incredibly beautiful reef. You can, of course, go diving and snorkeling. The resort gives you all the snorkeling gear for free (mask, fins, and life jacket). If you are lucky enough, you can see dolphins, turtles, rays and maybe sharks! We had the chance to see dolphins from the ponton and swim with a stingray. But for sure, you will see incredible beautiful colorful fishes and amazing corals! You can go snorkeling around the water villas, there are always beautiful marine animals.

The price for diving is approximately 150 USD per person including the material and the boat transfer.

Bike around the island

You need to know that in the Maldives, there are no cars or scooters on the islands. They are really into environment protection which is amazing. They will let you borrow a bike to be able to get around the island.

Also, you will easily find beautiful and empty beaches. Just bike around the island and you will find empty paradise beaches! You can even reach sandbanks on certain islands. It’s the case for Soneva Fushi and Sun island that has a beautiful sandbank close to the hotel.

Watersports

Some of the hotels also have several water activities. You can borrow stand-up paddle, kayaks and windsurf for free. For the motorized water sports, you can usually rent a jetski with a supplement.

Luxury Spa

Usually, every luxury hotel in the Maldives has a Spa. It is perfect to have a relaxing duo spa treatment, a massage, or a facial treatment! It’s absolutely amazing to relax and spend time with your loved one! They also proposed sometimes floating breakfast like in Bali!

Chill at your villa

You can, of course, enjoy your beautiful villa, stay by the pool or relax on your terrace! All the overwater villas have direct access and view on the ocean lagoon. And seriously, nothing can beat to wake up to this view and sleeping on the water! It’s an unforgettable experience.

Planning your honeymoon in the Maldives?

To conclude, if you are planning your honeymoon in the Maldives, you won’t be disappointed! It is totally heaven on earth. It is the perfect place to spend time with your loved one! You should probably be hesitating with French Polynesia and Seychelles right?

The Movenpick Kuredhivaru is probably the perfect place for you! We think this is seriously is one of the best quality/price ratios in the Maldives.
