Hey, travel FAM! Here is our complete Mykonos travel guide, one of the most beautiful Greek islands in the Cyclades! We have been one week to Mykonos in September and it was amazing. This island is a gem, every corner is so pretty. The old town of Mykonos is absolutely gorgeous, all the buildings are white, there is bougainvillea everywhere. The beaches are made of crystal clear water and sunsets are to die for! Also, do I need to mention that the locals are adorable?
Moreover, we were surprised by the size of the island, it was bigger than we expected. It is really bigger than Santorini. There are definitely many beautiful spots to see on this island and I think five days is the minimum to visit this island! To be honest it was one of our best trips. We loved this island so much that we are seriously thinking to go back next year!
When is the best time to visit Mykonos?
The best time concerning the weather is between May and September. If you are looking for a relaxing stay, you should avoid June, Jully and, August because it is the high season. So, the best months are probably May and September. We went to Mykonos in September and it was perfect. The weather was still warm (around 25 degrees Celcius), we were lucky to not have wind, and it was not so crowded.
How to get around on the island?
Ok, this part is really important, believe me! You have several solutions: take the local buses, rent a car or rent a quad (also called ATV in Mykonos). It is depending on if you are staying in the old town or if you are planning to stay on the rest of the island and visit beaches. In this case, it will be easier for you to rent a vehicle. To go from the airport to the old town, you can take a taxi, it will costs you 18€.
Rent a quad
You can rent a quad (ATV) for 25€ per day for a small one and 35€ per day for a medium one. Don’t choose the small one! We did this mistake and we were not able to go up on hills, the quad was not powerful enough! JE was driving and I had to walk sometimes lol. Also, you need to know that they will hold your driving license until you return the ATV.
Rent a car
It is a little bit more expensive, but if you have to carry luggage and if you want to visit the est part of the island, it will be way easier! The prices are starting around 50€ per day.
Take the local buses
Also, you can take the local buses in Mykonos, they are really nice and cheap. Around 2€ per way and per person only. It is a good way to go to the beaches (paradise beach, super paradise beach and, Platis Gialos) but also to go to the airport and the port and visit another island. You can find the bus timetable here.
Where to stay in Mykonos?
Belvedere Hotel, members of the leading hotels of the world.
The Belvedere Hotel, members of the leading hotels of the worlds is one of our favorites hotels. This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Mykonos. We really loved the ambiance, the atmosphere, the vintage and luxury decoration of the rooms. Also, the staff is the kindest. Read the full blog post about the Belvedere hotel here.
Myconian Utopia, a Relais & Chateaux resort
This five-star hotel, member of Relais & Chateaux, is absolutely incredible. This complex is composed of several hotels from the Myconian collection. We stayed at the Myconain Utopia and we had a wonderful stay.
The villas with a private pool and a view on the Aegean sea are incredible. The room was really spacious and the decoration made of white and wood materials. You can see the villa and the private pool on the firsts photos of this post.
The restaurant of the hotel is incredible and the service and customer satisfaction is absolutely perfect! If you are looking for a luxury hotel for your next romantic stay, this hotel is for you!
Votsalaki resort Mykonos
This resort is amazing too. What we love the more about this one is that it is a familial resort. Also, the resort is located right in front of “Paradise beach“, which is absolutely beautiful. Also, they have an amazing glass pool. How cool is it?
What are the best places to visit?
Mykonos old town
Mykonos old town is a gem. Every building in the town is pristine white. It is quite small. You need to visit Little Venice, which you can see in the photo. It’s really pretty, the buildings are in front of the sea. Also, you need to walk and get lost in the little streets, you will easily find the white and blue famous streets. Next, you can visit the beautiful church of Paraportiani. Of course, you can not miss the famous Mykonos windmills at the beginning of the town.
Paradise beach and super paradise beach
These beaches are absolutely beautiful. The water is crystal clear. You can also organize a boat tour to see several beaches.
What are the best restaurants in Mykonos?
We really advise you to get lost in the streets and stop when you see a cute restaurant with a terrace and a good ambiance because there are so many in Mykonos! However, we will give you our favorite one!
La casa di Giorgio
We totally fell in love with this restaurant. The location is perfect, in the heart of the old town, it is really cozy and romantic because it is at the end of small streets. There are lights and a cozy atmosphere and a chief making homemade pasta in front of us.
Are you planning to visit Mykonos next summer?
To summarize, Mykonos has totally taken our hearts! We really love this island, the ambiance, the white landscapes, the kindness of locals, the Greek food and the breathtaking sunsets! If you have not been to Mykonos yet, believe me, it really worths a visit! We hope this Mykonos travel guide will help you to plan your next vacation!

Salut Chiara,
Super article!
