So if you want to organise the perfect trip to Italy as a couple, a solo traveler or a family, here we go! 😉
What’s the best time to visit Tuscany?
The best time of the year to visit Tuscany is for us in late May/June or Late August / September. You will have a great whether (even if it’s quiet unpredictable sometimes in Tuscany). But you will have more chance to have a sunny weather. And it won’t be too crowded. You need to know that Tuscany is really less crowded than other parts of Italy such as Venice, the Amalfi coast or Rome for exemple.
Do I need a car to visit Tuscany?
Yes definitely! Tuscany has beautiful places to see in the countryside. You can reach early Firenze by train but to visit other places you will really need a car. If you are coming from close country, you should take yours. As we are living in Provence, south of France, we often do this. But if it’s not the case, you can still rent a car at the airport once you’ve arrived in Italy. There are not so many buses or common transportation in Tuscany. To be able to visit all the hidden spots, you really need a car.
How many days to visit Tuscany ?
It really depends on the places you want to see. If you just want to see the ‘must see’ like Firenze, Pisa and Siena for exemple, you will just need 3 or 4 days. But if you also want to get lost in the country side and explore hidden gems; you will need at least 5 or 6 days.
Here is the perfect Tuscany itinerary with all the best places to visit! We will be able to get all the names and localisations of the best places to visit. This includes hotels to stay, restaurants, and places to explore in the nature.
Staying at hotels or agriturismo?
If you are visiting this part of Italy we highly advise you to stay at a local agriturismo. It will allow you to live the typical Tuscany lifestyle. For example having traditional Italian breakfast, eating local products, connect with local families. And of course support the local wine production or olive oil. We have stayed at many agriturismo and always had an amazing time.
If you want to have a ‘luxury experience’ you can also stay at an hotel but we’re sure you will love staying at an agriturismo and live the Tuscany lifestyle for a few days! So we advise you to do both.
