The ultimate Rome travel guide

Hi everyone! Today let’s talk about one of the most iconic and most traveled place in Europe : the beautiful city of Rome! With a long history, a unique culture, amazing architectures and one best food ever, Rome has so much to offer! Eating pizza at the colosseo or a gelato at the piazza Navona, you don’t need to choose! This romantic city is perfect for a couple trip but it’s also really cool with friends or family! Here is my Rome travel guide!

What to visit in Rome?

The Colosseo

This monument is one of the 7 wonders of the ancien world. How to not be impressed? It’s the third time I see it and I’m still fascinated. If you want to visit this place, as all the beautiful places in Rome you need to wake up early to avoid the crowd.  We were there at 7am and there were nobody. If you want to visit the inside you need to book in advance on internet to avoid waiting during hours!

Piazza Navona

The piazza Navona is also one of my favorites in Rome! The colorful buildings are just so pretty and the fountain is beautiful too! I love this place because there is a special ambiance. There are always painters and musicians on the place. Also there are so many traditional restaurants where you can eat traditional pizza, pasta or gelato!

Fontana di Trevi

This is the most iconic place in Rome! If you want to make a wish it’s a must! Did you know that every year 1,5M are thrown in the fountain? And all is reversed to the association Caritas. I must admit that the fountain is absolutely amazing! But there are so many people it’s crazy. If you want to avoid the crowd, you need to wake up really early. We came at 6am and there were already so many people!

How to get around in Rome?

First, to arrive to Rome there are many daily flights to Fumiciano airport. Once you are at the airport you can take the Terravision navette and get to the center of rome for less than 7 euros per person. You can also take a taxi but it will cost you around 50 euros.

You can also arrive by train from another city in Italy. Most lines run to Roma termini, Rome central’ train station.

One you are in Rome, you can choose to walk to visit the city if your hotel is in the center. That’s what we did. We were at less then 2km from all the places to visit so it was easy to walk.

You can also take a Uber, this service is available in Rome.

Also you can rent a vespa, the price is around 50€/ day. You can choose between different companies.

Where to stay in Rome?

Romanico palace & spa

There are so many beautiful hotels in Rome but the Romanico palace & spa is certainly one of the most amazing. This traditional four star hotel is perfectly located in the city. Only 2km from the Colosseo and 1km from the fontana di Trevi. It is close to all the best places to visit.

We stayed in a beautiful suite at the 5th floor with a living room, a room, a jacuzzi and several balconies with a beautiful view on the city.

This is also the only themed hotel in Romanesque style in Rome’s city centre. There are 120 rooms and suites and all are different from each others but all of them have a traditional Romanesque style.

Also, there is a rooftop at the 7th floor with an amazing view on the city, where you can take your breakfast or watch the sunset with a spritz, home made by their bartenders 😉

The price of the rooms is not so expensive, it starts between 150 and 200€ for 1 night. If you want to stay there you can book here!

Where to eat?

Yeah I know it’s the more interesting part, you were waiting for that, right? 😀 so there is an amazing restaurant on the Fontana di trevi place. It is called “Pizza in Trevi”. Their pizza are to die for! Everything is home made with local ingredients.

We also really loved the “Ristorante pizzeria navona” located on the beautiful piazza navona. It’s a traditional family restaurant, the staff is so kind. And the food is delicious, you can choose between, pizza, pasta or gelato.
